Shuttle racking is a high-density storage system composed of racks, shuttles and forklifts. This efficient storage method is to improve the utilization of warehouse space and bring customers a new storage choice.
The system evolved from the drive-in racking system. The forklift puts the pallets to the foremost part of the rails of a certain layer in the racking area, and transports the pallets to the depth direction by wireless remote control of the shuttle at that layer. When picking up the goods, the pallet is remotely controlled first. The shuttle car moves the pallet deep in the shelf to the port of the guide rail, and then the pallet is removed by the forklift.
The forklift can be used to place the shuttle in different lanes, and multiple lanes can share one shuttle. The number of shuttles is determined by comprehensive factors such as the depth of the roadway, the total amount of goods, the batch of shipments, and the frequency of shipments.
The characteristics of this type of racking system are:
●High utilization rate of warehouse
●It can be first in first out or first in last out
●High work efficiency
●The safety is much better than the drive-in rack
